A 90-day Catholic Spiritual Exercise for Men
Exodus 90 arose in response to a profound need for renewal in the Church, especially among men. Many men today find themselves isolated, distracted, addicted, stuck living in a cycle of mediocrity or complacency.
One of the lies that our culture peddles is the fairytale of the self-made man.
The truth is that man is at his best when he is surrounded by men pushing him to triumph. Remember the example that Jesus Christ left for us in forming his disciples. The path to freedom that he paved for us is one of prayer, self-denial, and brotherhood.
Brotherhood. It's something modern men need so much, but don't pursue.
When men inspire one another to spend time in daily prayer and meditation, to aim for self-mastery and spiritual growth, the impact is powerful and can be long-lasting.
Exodus 8is not something you take up alone. You simply can't. Men who aren't fully committed to building a fraternity or are slack in attending their fraternity meetings usually experience substantial difficulties.
Real fraternity leads to real success.
We need men who fight and take back their freedom so that they are free to love and serve God and their families as they ought. Nearly all men who come to Exodus 90 are seeking a new level of freedom. But, how are men unfree?
Today, men are enslaved in many different ways by our dependencies and attachments: to sports, email, mobile devices, work, TV, food, alcohol, money, power, control, materialism, laziness, pornography, and masturbation.
This list isn’t exhaustive, but use it to reflect on your own dependencies and attachments. We all have them. As men wishing to be closer to Christ, it’s important that we honestly assess what we need to be freed from. This honesty is a vital step toward freedom.
Imagine all you could do if you got rid of everything that stood in your way: the distractions, the loneliness, the self-doubt.
EXODUS 90 gives you a concrete and actionable roadmap for overcoming that distraction and loneliness through prayer, asceticism, and fraternity.
